Variable Structure Attitude Controller Design for Solely Magnetically Actuated Small Satellites Subject to Environmental Disturbances

چکیده
Sliding mode control algorithms with classical and modified discontinuous reaching laws for purely magnetic attitude control of small satellites are proposed and compared with each other in this work. They are designed by following the steps characteristic to the variable structure control method and the magnetic attitude control problem. The asymptotical stability of the control laws is proven by using theoretical and intuitive approaches together. The stability of the controllers is verified by converging simulation results of the states. The aim is to obtain a controller superior to the sliding mode magnetic controller with continuous reaching law in terms of steady state error under environmental disturbance effects. The time responses of Euler angles and angular velocities indicate that the aim is reached. The necessity of modifying the classical discontinuous reaching law is made clear by comparing states’ responses obtained by using the classical and the modified sliding mode algorithms. TIME OPTIMAL SLEW MANEUVER OF MAGNETICALLY ACTUATED LEO SATELLITES
Conventional magnetic attitude control methodologies require several orbital periods to accomplish the required attitude maneuvers due to the existence of an uncontrollable axis, namely the local Earth’s magnetic field vector. Since in some attitude maneuver missions the elapsed time is of critical importance, those time-consuming controllers are not satisfactory and we need a much faster contr...
متن کاملDesign of an Intelligent Controller for Station Keeping, Attitude Control, and Path Tracking of a Quadrotor Using Recursive Neural Networks
During recent years there has been growing interest in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Moreover, the necessity to control and navigate these vehicles has attracted much attention from researchers in this field. This is mostly due to the fact that the interactions between turbulent airflows apply complex aerodynamic forces to the system. Since the dynamics of a quadrotor are non-linear and the ...
متن کاملCoordinated Control of Satellites: the Attitude Case
In this paper an observer-controller structure for attitude synchronization of a satellite formation is presented. The design applies methods from mechanical synchronization to design a nonlinear observer and controller for satellites actuated by means of reaction wheels and magnetic torquers. In this approach one satellite is defined as the leader of the formation, while the rest are defined a...
متن کاملDesign of an Adaptive-Neural Network Attitude Controller of a Satellite using Reaction Wheels
In this paper, an adaptive attitude control algorithm is developed based on neural network for a satellite using four reaction wheels in a tetrahedron configuration. Then, an attitude control based on feedback linearization control is designed and uncertainties in the moment of inertia matrix and disturbances torque have been considered. In order to eliminate the effect of these uncertainties, ...
